During those years, Marina went through the horrors of Stalin-era repression. Marina Durnovo was the first person Daniil Kharms would read his poems to and ask for her opinion. She was the person Kharms would have fun with and share the joys of life. Durnovo witnessed Kharms’ arrest by NKVD and then spent years trying to find him in prison. Marina Durnovo could not forgive her country for her husband’s death, but she found peace in the end.
