Chemical Sciences

Supervisor 's research interests (more detailed description of scientific interests):

Novel approaches in surface modification of conventional semiconductors for photocatalysis and heterogeneous catalysis of organic reactions. Physical chemistry of complex organic molecule adsorption. Electrochemistry of semiconductors and sensors.

Research highlights ( with stock ):

For the last 5 years Oleg Bolshakov participated in developing methods for the synthesis of TiO 2 microparticles and its composites with SiO 2 . Currently a novel approaches for surface modification and controlled phase growth are being investigated with computer modeling of the nanoparticles. Surface adsorption mechanism of biologically active compounds on oxide surfaces and their geometry have been elucidated with physical and computer chemistry methods

Supervisor 's specific requirements :

  1. Physical chemistry knowledge is a must have
  2. Basic skills in inorganic chemistry synthesis
  3. Basic knowledge of organic chemistry
