11.04.04 Electronics and Nanoelectronics
Major: Nanoelectronics: Quantum Technologies and Materials
Level: Master's degree programme
Duration of training: 2 years and 6 months
Degree certificate: Diploma
Mode of study: full-time
Language of study: Russian
Programme manager:
Aleksandr Vorontsov, Doctor of Sciences (Physics and Mathematics), Professor
Description of the educational programme:
Nanotechnology is the basis for digital technologies and artificial intelligence development. Transition to nanoscale level in electronics means that presentations of structures and operation of electronic systems, based on classical physics, will be supplemented or replaced by the laws of quantum mechanics. In the programme, this transition is ensured with modern courses in micro- and nano-electronics, studying of electronic devices as quantum objects, describing them by analytical and numerical methods, using the advances in Condensed Matter Physics, Quantum Informatics and the Physics of Nanoscale Systems.

Description of the educational programme:
Programme goal: developing students' soft skills and general cultural and professional competences in compliance with the state standards of higher education in the field of training "Applied Mathematics and Informatics" at the Master's degree level; providing the city of Chelyabinsk and the Chelyabinsk Region with highly qualified personnel with secondary and vocational education.
To fulfil the goal of this educational programme, five main tasks were set: 1. Methodological and organizational training of the Master's degree students for conducting special courses and interest groups on teaching students how to solve Olympiad problems in Mathematics and Informatics, and for organizing their participation in Olympiads and contests in Mathematics and Informatics at various levels, including the all-Russian and international ones. This is what is unique about this programme. 2. Methodological and organizational training of the Master's degree students for organizing research and project-based activities of students: academic advising for research and project-based work of students, implementing modern computer technologies in this work, organizing school pupils' and students' participation in contests at various levels, including the all-Russian one. 3. Training of the Master's degree programme students for the scientific work in the field of: methods of teaching Mathematics and Informatics; using the means of computer-aided mathematics in the educational process and certain disciplines; pedagogy and psychology in the field of education; mathematics and other fields – with the publication of scientific works in editions indexed in the citation systems, and participation in scientific conferences. 4. Training of the Master's degree students for using mathematical tooling environments in the teaching process, creating electronic study-guide materials, using and designing of modern means of assessing the results of learning. 5. Training of the Master's degree students for organizational and methodological work in modern education: management in education, monitoring the assessment of the education quality, etc.
Field of future profession: The students of this Master's degree programme are trained for the following types of professional activity: teaching, organization and management, and cultural and educational.
