Chelyabinsk Region to Receive an Additional 7.9 Billion Rubles from the Federal Budget for the Completion of the Third Phase of the Interuniversity Campus. The corresponding directive was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. The funds have been allocated as part of the national project “Youth and Children.”
“Receiving additional funding is the result of systematic efforts and confirms the project's significance for the entire country. The Interuniversity Campus will serve as a powerful driver for the development of science and education, not only for the Chelyabinsk Region but for the entire Ural Federal District. We are building a state-of-the-art infrastructure that will enable us to train highly qualified professionals and retain talented young people in the region,” noted Governor Alexey Teksler.
The additional financing is aimed at ensuring the timely commissioning of the third-phase facilities. Currently, the second phase – comprising six dormitories with over 3,000 rooms for students, postgraduates, and faculty – is being prepared for operation. Funds allocated for the third phase will ensure the completion of the entire campus and the creation of conditions for scientific and educational activities. This, in turn, will enable universities, in partnership with industrial stakeholders, to implement their established product-focused programs, thereby strengthening the scientific and technological potential of the Chelyabinsk Region.
“The university, together with its industrial partners, plans to occupy more than half of the floor space within the research and laboratory complex of the campus under construction,” said Rector Alexander Wagner. “All plans are supported by signed cooperation agreements, which outline the forms and scope of participation in the projects by regional industrial leaders.”
The Interuniversity Campus “South Ural” is set to become a hub for talented youth and a center for advancing scientific expertise at the highest global level.
All activities are carried out within the framework of the national project ”Youth and Children” which is designed to create opportunities for self-fulfillment and the development of young people across the country.
The construction of the Interuniversity Campus in Chelyabinsk is part of the federal initiative to establish a network of modern campuses, implemented under the national project “Youth and Children” and remains under the direct oversight of the Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region, Alexey Teksler.
