SUSU Rector Alexander Wagner: "This Year the University Has Shown Unprecedented Enrolment Figures"

On August 31st, within the framework of the beginning of the new academic year, the Rector of South Ural State University held a meeting with the SUSU academic and administrative staff members. The head of the university outlined the plans and goals for the next year and summed up the results of the 2023 Admissions Campaign.

Alexander Wagner noted that the admission figures are significantly higher this year than those of previous years. More than 13 thousand people have submitted over 40000 applications for various academic programmes. As a result of the Admissions Campaign, more than 7000 students of all modes of study and levels of education enrolled in South Ural State University.

"We associate this year’s growth in admission rates to the demand for engineering and IT specialties. These professions remain the most relevant ones in our region both because of its specifics and because of the active digitalization of industrial enterprises, the emergence and development of new technology companies that require professional personnel today. Our country needs such specialists to implement the program of technological sovereignty. Our country needs people who know how to create and develop new technological and technical products that can successfully replace imported analogues," said SUSU Rector Alexander Wagner.

The university is successfully coping with the task of import substitution. Quite recently, the university jointly with the URAL Automobile Plant presented the Arctic bus. This is a car that has practically no analogues in the world. SUSU students and postgraduates took an active part in its development.
