SUSU Warns of New Fraud Schemes with the Use of Fake Accounts

Cases of fraudulent activities have become more frequent recently. SUSU students and staff members receive messages from scammers, who are using fake accounts with a photo of the rector in Whatsapp and Telegram.

In these messages they claim that special services are initiating a check of bank accounts and asking for personal data. SUSU is not the first university subject to such an attack. If you read the text carefully, you will easily understand it is a fake. The name and patronymic of the rector are misspelled, and a different surname is written below the account name. However, you should not forget that fraudulent bots are improving, there are algorithms that can fake a phone number and even a person’s voice.

Rector’s Office does not send official messages via popular instant messengers. Be careful: in all official cases you must use the SUSU corporate mail.
