19th Century Ball Will Be Held at SUSU

“Gattaca” historical dance studio invites everyone to their gala performance which will be held on September 16th. You will see a scene from a real ball and will be able to get familiar with interesting and popular dances which today are performed at historical ballroom dancing in Russia and abroad.

Also, you will be able to watch a performance by the International Organization “Societa di Danza” which the “Gattaca” studio is a member of, as well as dances reconstructed by the world leading dance historians, for instance, a Bohemian national polka, Russian mazurka quadrille, and Gypsy polka.

Besides watching the dance steps, the audience will hear a narration on the history of dances, costumes and etiquette of those times.

“Gattaca” historical dance studio has been actively participating in the SUSU’s events for 11 years now. The studio’s dancing master and our University graduate, Dmitriy Khan is a leading dance history specialist in Russia and the head organizer of the All-Russian Convent of Ballroom Dancing.
