Rector of South Ural State University Alexander Wagner and Director of the Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization "Centre for Social and Cultural Adaptation of Foreign Citizens in the Chelyabinsk Region of the Government of the Chelyabinsk Region" Mikhail Podobed signed a cooperation agreement aimed at comprehensive support and integration of foreign citizens coming to our region to live, study and professionally develop.
More than 2400 international students from different countries from around the world study at South Ural State University. Our university plays an important role in their adaptation and integration in Russia. To support international students, Sociocultural Adaptation Centre and the Association of International Students and Alumni work here. International students actively participate in the university life, get acquainted with the Chelyabinsk Region, immersing themselves in the traditions and culture of our country.
“This agreement provides us with the opportunity to develop various tools and conditions for the adaptation of foreign citizens not only at our university, but also in the Chelyabinsk Region. The main thing is to create a comfortable environment for studies and life. It is important to help foreigners with everyday issues, conduct classes and consultations on migration legislation,” said SUSU Rector Alexander Wagner.
Since April 2025, SUSU has been actively cooperating with the Centre in a number of areas. The agreement consolidates the already established forms of interaction and also opens up new horizons for joint projects.
“At the moment, we are engaged in the adaptation of those citizens who come to take the Russian language test at the Centre of Language Training and Testing, and in the future we plan to expand our work with the student community, organize joint events in the area of adaptation, and develop solutions for migration policy,” emphasized Director of the Centre Mikhail Podobed.
The parties agreed to develop a joint plan of events, hold round tables, seminars and consultative meetings. Particular attention will be paid to cultural integration and the involvement of international students in the life of our university and our region.
