Dear Professor Vyatkin,
Please accept our most sincere congratulations on this important event, the 90th anniversary of your birthday!
You belong to the generation, who had to go through a lot. The hardships of the war and postwar time made your character stronger and formed your strive towards transformations. Your life is a bright example of endurance and spiritual strength, strong work ethic and commitment to a cause. Over the course of long decades, your destiny has been inextricably intertwined with South Ural State University, which you graduated from. Having worked all the way up from a blast-furnace keeper of the Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant to the rector, and later the president of one of the major universities in our country, you gained deep fundamental knowledge and rich managerial experience.
It is difficult to overestimate your contribution to the development of the physical chemistry of high-temperature metallurgical systems and experimental metallurgy, Russian higher school, and of course, to the development of our alma mater. While holding the post of the rector, you transformed the technical university into a multi-purpose one, created its branches, representations and new faculties, and built accommodations for teaching staff and scientists.
Under your leadership the educational-and-sports complex with an indoor track facility and swimming pool were constructed, and after the reconstruction of the main university building, a spire with a coat of arms of the Russian Federation crowned it. Thanks to your efforts, such sculptures as Student, Prometheus and Nike appeared, and an Internet-connected university computer network was created. You were the initiator of the supercomputer and digital technologies, nanotechnologies, and other new scientific fields to emerge at our university.
Under your guidance the History of the South Urals eight-volume edition was prepared and published. You were the one who initiated the creation of the South Urals. Traces of Ages film and documentary and headed the work of the film crew of the SUSU. Force Vector documentary created on the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of our university. We feel confident that your competences and wisdom will continue to facilitate its development in the future as well.
With all our hearts we wish you health and wellbeing, dear Professor Vyatkin! May each new day bring you joy and creative ideas! May you remain cheerful and have many more fruitful years of work for the benefit of South Ural State University!
