SUSU Teaches to Design Hydraulic and Pneumatic Drives in English

Hydraulics and Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems Department of the Institute of Engineering and Technology offers a new Master’s programme Automated Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems and Units. This programme helps to integrate into the international educational environment and to make cooperative plans for students’ education.

The programme provides a deep understanding of how to design and operate the processes in production with respect to product quality, sustainability and finances. It aims to train students in the field of automated hydraulic and pneumatic drives and systems based on them, and to study computer technologies on the basics of computer modelling, design of hydraulic and pneumatic automated systems and their components. Graduates will have all the necessary competencies and skills to become highly competitive in the labor market and to be capable of adapting successfully to changing social and economic environments.

Hydraulics and Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems Department is on the rise and considered one of the strongest among similar departments in Russian universities providing training in hydraulic machines, hydraulic drives, hydraulic and pneumatic automation. Automated hydraulic and pneumatic systems and units play a crucial role in aviation, rocket and space technology, fuel and nuclear power, engineering, oil and gas industry”, shares Evgenii Spiridonov (D.Sc., Professor), the Programme Manager.

A special feature of the programme is that it is taught in English. The key disciplines concern technical-related questions that address the opportunities and risks associated with innovation and new technologies. They are the following:

  • Fluid and Gas Dynamics
  • Evaluation of Technical and Economic Efficiency of Engineering Projects
  • Design of Experiments
  • Computer Technologies in Engineering
  • Microprocessor Control Systems
  • Hydraulic and Pneumatic Mechatronic Systems
  • Friction Pumps
  • Supercomputer Simulation of Machines and Processes
  • Wave Processes in Hydraulic and Pneumatic Automatic Systems
  • Theory and Design of Hydraulic and Pneumatic Drives
  • New Construction Materials

Faculty staff of the Department taking part in the programme consists of 1 Doctor of Sciences (Engineering), 7 PhDs (Engineering) who are leading specialists in Chelyabinsk enterprises at the same time.

The foreign partner of the department is the Institute of Fluid Power, Technische Universitat Dresden.

Graduates professional activity is aimed at solving engineering, operational and scientific tasks in the field of hydraulic and pneumatic systems of various technological machines, mechatronic and robotic complexes in various branches of power engineering, aviation engineering, automotive engineering and military industries of the global economy.

Qualification and level of training they receive enable graduates to work in the field of designing hydraulic equipment and power systems, as specialists in the installation, repairing and operation of power machines, in development of modern automated equipment for oil and gas industry, designers of pneumatic systems and units for heavy equipment consumer goods industries, aviation, missile and chemical industries.

The most crucial competitive advantage of a young specialist is real work experience and interaction with the leading experts of a relevant sector. By taking part in the master’s programme students immerse into the process that provides them with chances of promising employment and dynamic careers.
