Digital University of the Future – Study IT in English at SUSU

South Ural State University (SUSU) is an international university that has been consistently ranked as one of the top Russian universities in national and international rankings (position 601-800 in 2021 THE World University Rankings by subject: Computer Science). Every year students from different countries choose SUSU for their Bachelor’s or Master’s degree education. We provide lots of educational programs both in Russian and English languages.

The new English-taught Bachelor’s program is launched by  the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science at SUSU. If you want to become a back-end or front-end developer, DevOps professional or software engineer and gain versatile knowledge and practical skills in the field of computer science we invite you to get your degree at South Ural State University in the Department of System Programming at the program “Fundamental Computer Science and Information Technology. Informatics and Computer Science”.

Computer science is a relatively young field, but it already includes some sections that are considered fundamental and that every computer scientist should know. This line of research covers the theoretical foundations of informatics and programming, and focuses on mathematical disciplines along with the development of practical programming skills.

For more than five years the Department of Systems Programming has successfully provided English-Taught Master’s Degree Program “Fundamental Informatics and Information Technologies”, so it became necessary to launch an English-Taught Bachelor’s Degree program in this direction, as there have been numerous requests from international applicants for such a Bachelor’s Degree,” says Professor Leonid Sokolinskiy (Head of the Department of System Programming, Vice-Rector for Informatization, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor), the Program Manager.

The key disciplines, that you would learn during your study, are as follows:

  • Programming Languages: C++, C#, Java, Prolog, Ruby, Python;
  • Web Application Development;
  • Artificial Intelligence Technology;
  • Parallel and Distributed Programming Technology: MPI, OpenMP;
  • Mobile Apps Development;
  • Database Technology;
  • Algorithm Analysis;
  • Gaming Apps Development.

Lectures are given by experts in different branches of IT both from Russia and other countries (Ameer B. A. Alaasam; Phan Than An, Ph.D.; Kumar Sachin, Ph.D.). Leading professors at the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science are involved in the program, including five Doctors of Science and sixteen Ph.Ds. The staff of the Department in 2020 got 3 grants from Russian Foundation for Basic Research and made 27 publications (1 publication in Scopus TOP-10 and 4 publications in Q1 Scopus).

The School partners in the program are Parallel and Distributed Systems Group (Institute of Computer Science, Heidelberg University, Germany), Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology (LUT, Finland). The Department is closely linked to the Supercomputer Simulation Laboratory of SUSU and many professors are employees of this laboratory. During practical classes students can use supercomputer systems, installed in that laboratory.

Students may participate in internships in the companies involved in software development like Napoleon IT, Redsolution, Orange Apps, Intel, or Yandex to develop their practical skills and get real work experience.

At the end of the course the graduates of the program will acquire the necessary competencies to work in systems and application software companies as well as in computer centers and informatics departments of banks, industrial enterprises, commercial companies, public administration and other organizations. They can strongly compete in the labor market to get a prestigious job. The quality of work, and therefore, high professionalism is guaranteed through systematic and continuously regular training.

The most crucial competitive advantage of a young specialist is real work experience and interaction with the leading experts of a relevant sector. By taking part in the Bachelor’s program students immerse into the process and that provides them with chances of promising employment and dynamic careers.
