Best Developers Were Awarded at SUSU School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science

Within the framework of the competition “Designer and Developer of the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science” on the technical creativity of students, the finalists were awarded at South Ural State University on November 6.

The Designer and Developer competition is the competition on radio electronics and robotics, where students are able to reveal their research abilities. 16 boys and girls from different years and fields of study of the SUSU School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, as well as from the schools of Chelyabinsk have become the participants.

The jury consisted of Gleb Radchenko, Director of the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science; Sergei Pashnin, Project Manager; Vasiliy Spitsyn, Deputy Director of the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science; and the representatives of ChelPipe Group, Elmetro and Intersvyaz.

A commission was formed on the basis of the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, which reviewed more than 20 applications in the open competition. The participants defended their own programming cases for the Arduino Uno microcontroller, which they worked on in groups. Six projects were selected for the final.

“We have developed a project evaluation system, which includes the technical component, the quality of implementation, the idea itself and the online presentation of the project. In addition, the questionnaires have been sent to the partners included in the jury. Within the framework of the competition, voting was organized on the VKontakte network. After counting all the votes, we have determined the order of distribution of the places,” says Gleb Radchenko, Director of the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science.

1st place ‒ Smart House

Aleksandr Manilkin, Aleksey Glebets, Maksim Golovlev, Viacheslav Ivanenkov;

2nd place ‒ LED Array

Danil Uldanov, Kseniia Prokopieva, Timur Melnikov;

3d place ‒ Stroboscope

Dmitriy Aleksandrov, Denis Prianichnikov;

4th place ‒ Flywheel Motorcycle

Aleksandr Nikiforov;

5th place ‒ Light Cube

Mariia Motorina, Elena Vakulenko, Aleksandr Sokolov;

6th place ‒ Linear Printer

Dmitriy Antipin, Iuliia Glukhova, Iuliia Sukhomlinova.

The winning team has developed a 1:10 scale model of a smart house. It has access control, light and humidity control, solar panels and an interface via a graphical screen and a smart phone. While designing the house, the students used 3D printing and laser cutting, a large number of sensors and motors have been involved. The control program is completely developed.

“Working on this project, we have learned many interesting things that will be useful in the future. It took a lot of time to cut out parts and assemble the house, and the main part of the work was setting up the schemes. We are happy that we have been able to finish the work and present our project in a proper manner. We wanted to win, and we succeeded,” says Maksim Golovlev, a third-year student of the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, the team captain.

The participants were awarded valuable prizes from the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, as well as provided access to the FabLab computer modelling and 3D prototyping laboratory. The laboratory is a platform for technical creativity of developers, students and schoolchildren, it gives them access to modern equipment for modelling and designing products.
