The 500th Applicant of SUSU is an International Postgraduate Student

Admission campaign in one of the leading universities of Russia is in the full swing. The 500th applicant of South Ural State University is an international student from China, Jing Tao, who is getting enrolled for postgraduate studies program taught in English at the SUSU Polytechnic Institute.

This year, Jing Tao successfully completed his master’s degree program on Mechatronics and Robotic Engineering at South Ural State University. Willing to continue his study, he chose a postgraduate studies program in the sphere of Power Electronics, which has been launched this year and is taught in English at the Faculty of Mechannics and Technology of SUSU’s Polytechnic Institute.

The SUSU Rector Aleksandr Shestakov personally congratulated the international applicant and wished him success in his future study and research activity.

“South Ural State University is strengthening its positions at the international level, and this year we got included in the ranking of best universities in the world according to Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) British Consulting Company. There is no surprise that more and more international students come to SUSU, and our students undertake internships in foreign universities. Moreover, we actively involve international lecturers into the academic process, and SUSU lecturers are working at foreign universities upon exchange programs; due to this, the university provides high-quality international-level education in Chelyabinsk,” noted Aleksandr Shestakov.

In turn, Jing Tao told us why he has chosen to undertake postgraduate studies at South Ural State University:

“My dream is to become a university teacher and carry out research activities. SUSU is one of the best universities of the world included in QS ranking, therefore I decided to undertake my postgraduate studies here. Moreover, my choice was conditioned by the excellent academic staff: lecturers at our Faculty are very attentive; they are always ready to help, thoroughly answer any questions. I haven’t decided yet whether I am going to stay here or go back to China. But I am sure that the education that I get at SUSU will help me in my future professional activity no matter whether I decide to work at a university or get employed at an industrial enterprise.”

The SUSU Vice-Rector Andrey Radionov noted that the postgraduate studies program in the sphere of Power Electronics taught in English has been launched for a reason:

“This is one of the most up-to-date trend in engineering as it is connected with development of electronic devices that promote automatization of production processes, necessary for switching to Industry 4.0. Last year, more than 20 applications from international university applicants were submitted for postgraduate studies in this specialization taught in Russian; therefore we decided to launch this program in English as well.”
