SUSU Hosts the Forum of Rectors of Russian and Kazakhstan Universities

One of the largest Eurasian universities gathers leaders of the leading universities and Ministers of education and science of two countries.

The 14th Russia-Kazakhstan Interregional Cooperation Forum is to be held in Chelyabinsk on November 8 through 9. Its main topic is Human Capital Development. According to organizers, the strategically important investments in human capital are embedded, among all, at the stage of education. The first day of the Forum will be dedicated to this precise topic.

Today, on the ground of South Ural State University, the Forum of Rectors of Russian and Kazakhstan universities takes place. It will be visited by Minister of education and science of the Russian Federation Olga Vasilyeva and President of the Russian Rectors’ Union, Rector of the Lomonosov Moscow State University Victor Sadovnichy. Also, among honorable guests are Chairman of the Council of Rectors of Universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Rector of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University Erlan Sydykov and Minister of education and science of the Republic of Kazakhstan Erlan Sagadiyev.

The event is divided into two massive blocks. The first half is intended for the work of three sessions. One of them is dedicated to education as the key factor for enhancing competitiveness of human capital. The second – to development of innovative activity of contemporary universities. The third – to strategic partnership of Russian and Kazakhstan universities.

The second part of the Forum will be held in the form of plenary session where the Governor of the Chelyabinsk region Boris Dubrovskiy and the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Russian President in the Ural Federal District Igor Kholmanskikh will address the participants with a welcoming speech. The program also includes reports of the Ministers of education and science of Russia and Kazakhstan.

“We are incredibly proud with the vote of confidence given to SUSU when choosing the future venue for holding the Forum. Our university was chosen for a reason, as there are 3400 students from Kazakhstan studying at the university; 15 professors and associate professors from the neighboring Republic are delivering lectures; 45 young scientists from Kazakhstan are conducting their scientific research. I am sure that the Forum will allow not only establishing new contacts between the two countries’ universities, but also help showing the international community the possibilities of our university,” noted the SUSU Rector Alexander Shestakov.

In addition, within the Forum program it is also planned to sign memorandums between Russian and Kazakhstan universities, and also visit excursions at South Ural State University.
