Andrei Shmidt was born in 1974 in Chelyabinsk.

In 1996 he graduated from the Faculty of Power Engineering of Chelyabinsk State Technical University with honours.

In 2000 he graduated from South Ural State University majoring in Economics and Company Management and completed postgraduate studies (full-time) with honours.

In 1997 – chairman of the primary trade union organization of undergraduate and postgraduate students of CSTU

In 2005 he defended the candidate’s dissertation, the degree Candidate of Science (Economics) was conferred.

In 2006 Andrei Shmidt was appointed the head of Extra-Curricular Activity Directorate of South Ural State University.

In 2009 – chairman of the joint primary trade union organization of SUSU.

In 2012 – head of the Department of Economics and Service Management of SUSU.

In 2013 he defended the doctoral dissertation, the degree Doctor of Science (Economics) was conferred.

Since 2013 – Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of SUSU.

Awards: Diplomas of Merit of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Central Committee of the Trade Union of Russian Public Education and Science Workers, the Governor of the Chelyabinsk region, the Federation of Trade Unions of the Chelyabinsk region; badges of honour “Honoured Worker in the sphere of Youth Policy of the Russian Federation”, the Trade Union of Russian Public Education and Science Workers “For Active Work”; letters of gratitude of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Ural Federal District, Minister of the Education and Science of the Chelyabinsk region, badge of merit “For the Service to Chelyabinsk region”.

He is an author of more than 90 scientific articles, workbooks, and 5 monographs.
