Student Mentoring System

Supervisor  Valeria Chachina Telephone: 8912-890-80-90 Administrator Arina Badalova Telephone: 8922-711-22-05 Administrator Valeria Lebedeva Telephone: 8961-788-33-50 VK web-page: http://vk.com/kuratorsusu Student Mentoring System is a project on mentoring performed by senior year students for academic groups of freshmen.  Student life starts with the first year of study, that is why successful adaptation to a university way of life and studying is key to further development of every student both as a person, and a future specialist. Successful beginning of studies may help students in their further studying, have a positive effect on relationships with professors and fellow students, as well as draw attention of organizers of scientific student societies, leaders of various student creativity groups and associations, and activists of the university public life.  Thus, the mission of a student mentor becomes obvious: creating the environment for successful adaptation of freshmen to life in an education organization. A student mentor is just another student, but also someone who unlike the others knows that s/he wants to help the freshmen both by word and action. So, s/he shall be:  committed; punctual; positive; competent; open-minded; honest; and likable. The number of this year applicants for student mentoring has been impressive — 380 people. 250 were selected as candidates. 6 days were spent in training. 220 people successfully passed the tests and started their activities as student mentors.   What is required to become a student mentor? First of all, you must really want it; secondly, you need to fill out and application form and pass an interview with a senior student mentor, and of course, you will have to do well in the Student Mentoring System school which is held every August. Student mentoring means priceless experience, useful skills and unparalleled emotions.
