This year, the State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles under the Russian Ministry of Education and Science celebrates its 90th anniversary. Representatives of almost all CIS countries have arrived in Moscow to attend the anniversary plenum of the Russian State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles. The event have participants exchanged their experiences and discussed the prospects for developing a draft agreement on the mutual recognition of academic degrees.
Mathematician Aleksandr Samarov is a few years older than SUSU: the university celebrates its eightieth anniversary this year, and Aleksandr is 88. Another wording would be more correct: the scientist’s youth coincided with the youth of the university − the period of establishment of Chelyabinsk Polytechnic Institute (CPI). Aleksandr Samarov, having played an important role in the history of various Chelyabinsk universities, did not lose touch with CPI − CSTU − SUSU, and in the mid-2000s he returned here as an experienced specialist, the author of numerous textbooks.

– December 15, 1943 is the birthday of Chelyabinsk Mechanical Engineering Institute (SUSU today). We originate from mechanical engineering. Please tell us about the traditions which appeared and exist in our university in this direction.

Scientists from South Ural State University have discovered that prototypes of such products as cheese, cottage cheese and soured milk appeared in the territory of South Ural region between the 3rd and the 2nd millennium BC. At the Top 50 Famous People of the Chelyabinsk Region awarding ceremony, SUSU Professor Al-Suhaimi Sobhi Ahmed Azab has been awarded the prize in the Science category. The contest was held by the R: a Magazine about Reputation with a Capital R, and the ceremony itself took place in the hall of the Pegas equestrian complex.
The organisers chose a number of scientists of the Chelyabinsk Region for the Science category, and popular vote determined a single winner among them.
The "Re-Turn" ("Воз-Вращение") exhibition of ceramics and paintings by Aleksandr Purik opened in the Art Gallery of South Ural State University on September 15th. Aleksandr Purik is a participant in numerous art exhibitions and festivals, a member of the Union of Artists of Russia, a teacher at the Department of Decorative and Applied Arts at the Chelyabinsk State Institute of Culture.
