SUSU Celebrates Kid Inventors' Day

Today, on January 17th, Kid Inventors' Day is celebrated around the world. This holiday is for young scientists, who despite their young age invent many interesting and useful devices to make our world a better place.

There are more and more young discoverers and kid scientists nowadays. This happens, among other things, thanks to the support from the government authorities and various educational institutions.

Temperature meter, detector, sensor − all these are the names of the device that has been developed by employees of the SUSU Research Institute for Non-conventional Materials and Resource-Saving Technologies. The device measures temperature many times more accurately than similar devices currently available in the world.

Land of Lakes: SUSU Students Made a Video about the Anniversary of the South Ural Region

The Chelyabinsk Region will soon celebrate its 90th anniversary. On the eve of the anniversary, students of South Ural State University, together with the State Philharmonic and workers of culture of the South Ural region, have made a video showing the uniqueness of our region.

The director of the video was SUSU graduate Matvey Sholokhov, the director of photography – SUSU TV staff member Daniil Rukavitsyn, and the producer – SUSU student Valeriia Bondar.

Historians of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities Co-authored a Book about Chelyabinsk Cinemas of the 20th Century

On January 18th, a presentation of the book Chelyabinsk Cinemas of the 20th Century took place at the Chelyabinsk Public Assembly House. The co-authors of the book were Professor of the Department of Russian and Foreign History of the SUSU Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities Evgeniy Volkov and Associate Professor of the same department Maksim Sapronov. Other authors were local historians Dmitriy Grafov, Iuriy Latyshev, and Mikhail Khabirov.

Advanced Engineering School "Heart of the Urals" Will Be Opened at SUSU

Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin announced the results of the competitive selection of the Advanced Engineering Schools federal project. In 2022, 30 universities had become winners of the project; in the second wave of selection in 2023, 57 applicants from 40 regions were heard, as a result, 20 winning universities were selected. South Ural State University entered the second group with funding of 230.4 million roubles in 2024.

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia has published a ranking on media activity among Russian universities as of December 2023. South Ural State University has improved its standing by 10 positions and has taken the 11th place in the overall ranking.

The 8th Science-to-Practice Conference on Asteroid Safety wrapped up

On December 21st, the 8th Science-to-Practice Conference on Asteroid Safety wrapped up. Over the course of the conference, the expert committee heard more than 40 reports. The conference culminated in the ceremony of awarding the participants and their research advisors.

Following to the Provision on the Conference, the organizers divided the reports into three flows, in accordance with the reporters’ level. On the closing day, senior and graduating students presented their reports at the conference.
