Head of the SUSU Laboratory of Experimental Archaeology Presents a Unique Project in Serbia

Head of the SUSU Laboratory of Experimental Archaeology Ivan Semyan acted as member of the Conference Scientific Committee, and as an invited speaker delivered a presentation at the plenary meeting of the scientific forum.

The 42nd conference of the Serbian Archeological Society was held in the city of Negotin, Serbia, May 30th through June 1st. Among the event’s participants were about 130 specialists from Germany, the Netherlands, USA, Poland, Greece, Latvia, Romania, Bulgaria, Bosnia, Slovakia, Croatia, Serbia, and other countries.

Within the frameworks of this conference, a special section experimental archaeology was functioning, where Ivan Semyan together with his colleague from University of Athens, Head of Koryvantes Association Spyros Bakas presented an experiment on Sintashta Bow Project dealing with reconstruction of a bow of the Sintashta culture, which is known as the homeland of the famous Arkaim.

The experiment is being carried out thanks to a grant from EXARC (International Experimental Archaeology Organisation), which Ivan Semyan won jointly with Spyros Bakas.
