Scientific Education Programme by SUSU-TV Wins the Top Award at a World Contest in Paris

Early this year, the Faculty of Journalism of the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities of South Ural State University has sent creative works by its students and academics for a contest of the World Journalism Education Congress (WJEC-5) to Paris, France.

In the category of Television News Competition a Tabula Rasa student scientific education programme was accepted for the contest. It was prepared in the Inoveschanie editorial office of SUSU-TV television and radio broadcasting company by the students of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication under the guidance of Associate Professor, Candidate of Sciences (Philology) Aleksandra Khlyzova and the television company’s staff.

“The programme shares on the advanced scientific developments of SUSU, demonstrates the high scientific potential of our university, introduces the audience to the university laboratories, and explains our life’s multiple everyday phenomena from the scientific point of view. And the students describe the fascinating scientific facts of our life in a funny and easily understandable way…and in English, too,” reports Dean of the Faculty of Journalism of the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities, Doctor of Sciences (Philology) Liudmila Shesterkina.

Such creativity Contest of WJEС was held in the world for the first time, and 100 applications were submitted by universities from different countries.

“Your Tabula Rasa material, which you submitted for the WJEC-5 creativity contest, has won the top award,” reported in their letter the Chairman of the Contest’s Creative Committee representing the University of Alabama Michael Bruce, and the Executive Director of the Broadcast Education Association Heather Birks. “Each material was assessed by a group of colleagues and experts at the local level. This award marks your work as the best one. We will be demonstrating the contest’s winning programmes during the World Journalism Education Congress (WJEC-5), which will be held in Paris in July of 2019.”
