Artwork of SUSU’s Photography Master Oleg Igoshin is Claimed the Best at a World Contest in Paris

A photo entitled “Edinstvo” (“Unity”) by Oleg Igoshin, alumnus of SUSU’s Faculty of Journalism and nowadays Head of the university’s Production Photo Studio Laboratory and editor of the Internet Broadcasting department of the Marketing and Strategic Communications Department, is claimed the best at a contest of the World Journalism Education Congress (WJEC-5). The main goal of the contest for the best journalism artwork among higher schools of journalism around the world was to determine talented students and academics in the sphere of journalism education.

“According to the contest provisions, all artworks have been reviewed by world-class specialists, which was some kind of checking of our professionalism level,” said Dean of ISSH’s Faculty of Journalism, Doctor of Sciences (Philology), Liudmila Shesterkina. “So we are very happy that our alumnus, a young and very talented photography master of the university, Oleg Igoshin, performed really well at the contest. By the way, he does not only takes daily photos of events at the university, holds photo shoots and shooting of image-building materials, dubs videos in English, writes articles for the university’s website and administers the university’s social networks; he also teaches such disciplines as Photo Journalism in Convergent Mass Media, and Equipment and Technology of Mass Media to Bachelor’s and Master’s degree students at the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication.”

In 2014, Oleg Igoshin graduated from South Ural State University’s Faculty of Journalism in the major of Journalism, and in the same year he obtained a supplementary qualification as a translator in the sphere of professional communication (advanced level). After graduation from the university, he had been working for several years as an editor of cheltv.ru website of the Southern Urals GTRK. Since 2016 till the present time, he has been successfully working at SUSU. He knows all secrets of photography shooting; he uses such software as Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, Indesign, and VSDC Free Video Editor; he has skills in recording and editing VR-videos. In 2018, he became a prize holder of the All-Russian Photography Contest called “Elements of Science”. Oleg Igoshin is the author of the majority of portrait photos of the Leaders of SUSU photo gallery which has been opened at the university’s Research Library on the occasion of SUSU’s 75th anniversary.

The photograph of 2019 taken by the winner of the World Photography Contest, Oleg Igoshin, depicts the final fragment of a dance performed by Deep Vision student dance crew, where all characters are fusing into the unified whole. The meaning of the composition is that, generally speaking, all people on the Earth are one big family. We congratulate Oleg Igoshin on the victory and wish him new creative achievements.
