In the new academic year the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities of South Ural State University offers the enrollees a number of interesting and in-demand Master’s programs.

A Bachelor’s diploma obtained after 4 years of study at the university is proof of a complete higher education. However, to be qualified for more prestigious vacancies or top managing positions a candidate should have a certificate of successful completion of a Master’s program.  

“A Master’s degree implies that a graduate has wider competences, deeper knowledge in a certain professional field, skills of project activity, good experience in research work,” shares Director of the SUSU Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities Elena Ponomareva. “In 2018-2019 academic years our Institute will welcome intramural students to such Master’s programs as Universal Journalism; Psychological Counselling; Creation, Analysis and Expert Review of Text under Philology field, and many others.”

A graduate of the Master’s program in Creation, Analysis and Expert Review of Text will have qualification of a Master of Philology. Besides excellent language training a specialist will have competences in sociocultural communication, will be prepared for research and creative activity, will be able to fulfill his/her potential in institutions of education, culture, in the field of management, mass media, as well, as in the fields where expert review of texts is required.

“The advantage of this Master’s program is advanced practice-oriented and theoretical training with involvement of specialists from relevant SUSU departments (Journalism and Mass Communications, Theory of State and Law), as well as practicing specialists of OTV channel, Intersvyaz Company, and others,” notes Elena Ponomareva.

Professional activity of a Master of Journalism is related to mass media, working in print media, Internet mass media, information agencies, as well as on television channels and radio stations. Being in command of its own university television, radio broadcasting company, print media, corporate websites and multimedia newsroom, the Faculty of Journalism of the SUSU Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities provides the future “press tribe” a unique media space for developing their best professional qualities as communicators. Practicing specialists of the leading television and radio broadcasting companies, advertising and public relations agencies, and active work of the Department within the framework of the International Journalism Training Association allow our graduates obtain professional competences meeting international modern standards.

The Master’s program in Russian History aims at training qualified staff in the field of research and teaching work on History.

“Starting from the very first year of studies, the future Masters are engaged in project activity and have an opportunity to deepen and broaden their professional skills in a Methodological Workshop, where scientists from different countries of Europe and America are invited to work. Since their first year students are integrated into research life of the academic community through participating in historical conferences, seminars and scientific symposiums.”

At the SUSU’s Faculty of History an international Laboratory for Migration Studies is created under guidance of a Professor of Carleton University (Canada) Jeff Sahadeo. Master’s in History are in constant demand in Chelyabinsk State Museum of Local History, Unified State Archive of the Chelyabinsk Region, Center for Historical and Cultural Legacy of Chelyabinsk, universities and secondary schools of our city and region, as well as various state organisations.

A graduate of the program in Psychological Counselling will be in-demand in psychological services of educational organisations, psychological centers under the aegis of the Chelyabinsk Region Ministry of Education and Science, the Chelyabinsk Region Ministry of Social Relations, as well as in any commercial medical institutions.

The scope of professional activity of the graduates of the Master’s program in Sociology of Politics and International Relations comprises economics, science, culture, politics, and education. The students undergo internship at organisations dealing with social studies, including as ordered by the Public Opinion Foundation and the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center.

The graduates of the Master’s program in Politics and Management in the Field of Security are capable of making decisions based on analysis of strategic risks of the modern world, and manage the field of international and inter-faith relations. These unique specialists are in-demand in the field of security, state authorities and local authorities, public movements and organisations, and commercial structures.
