Graduate SUSU, Kirill Denisov Wins Bronze Medal at the World Judo Championships

A judoist, Kirill Denisov has become a bronze medalist at the World Championships in Budapest, reports Valeriy Kitchenko, press attaché of the Judo Olympic Training Center for the Chelyabinsk Region.

Four athletes represented the Chelyabinsk Region at the international sports competition, however only the resident of Tryokhgorny managed to win his place at the victory podium. Kirill Denisov outmatched his competitors from Hungary, Sweden and the Netherlands, as well as beat another Russian participant, but gave way to the judo athlete from Georgia in the quarterfinals.

“Today I missed the competitor’s move, though Liparteliani had a tactical disadvantage having totally given up the initiative. I am satisfied with the Bronze Medal, though I still could have become a champion, I know it for sure. Nowadays, I am more at peace with myself thinking about such things as a third place at a World Championships. It hurts more to lose when you are competing at the Olympics and the judges give victory to your competitor,” noted Kirill Denisov.

Other representatives of the Chelyabinsk Region, Sabina Gilyazova, Denis Yartsev and Renat Saidov did not manage to win medals.

It is worth noting that more than 700 athletes from 126 countries took part in the World Championships.
