Adaptation Training at Olimp: SUSU Freshman Students are Getting Acquainted with Student Life

Adaptation training of freshman students of three institutes of South Ural State University: the Polytechnic InstituteInstitute of Law and Institute of Linguistics and International Communication was held at the Olimp sports and recreation camp.

The camp has been gathering students for adaptation training for seven years. During three days, organizers deliver small lectures, workshops and training, provide active tasks which allow getting into the swing of things of the forthcoming student life.

“During these seven years our goal has remained the same: to provide a program which is targeted at teambuilding, revealing leaders, organizers and the most interesting and valuable talents. This training is devoted the process of teambuilding and to the process of entering the profession that students has chosen at our university. This year, the program of adaptation training is based on a significant event – the change of SUSU’s logo, and also on the results of the university’s participation in Project 5-100. Therefore, the final event is devoted to seeing the university of the future. Students will show us, in a form of theatrical performance, what students should do so that our university gets included in the first hundred of the world’s rankings!”, says SUSU Deputy Vice-Rector for academic affairs Yulia Bolotina.

Representatives of legal sphere: lawyers, notaries, investigators and judges of Chelyabinsk came to deliver lectures for students of the Institute of Law. Director of the Institute of Law Aleksandr Klassen told us about how the training goes for students of his Institute.

“For the training we invite acting lawyers who deliver speeches in front of our students. They tell them about legal career, its advantages and complications, and simultaneously sensitize freshman students to long and hard work in order to achieve success in our uneasy profession. Based on the experience, our students come back from such training as an already united team. From them we choose most active members, appoint prefects and mentors. I think that it is a significant result of our activity, and we are going to continue it in the future!”

Students note that such training can’t pass without leaving a trail, and they hope to once again gather for taking part in interesting group challenges. Making friends and getting positive vibes is an important part of summer training in Olimp.

“This training is very useful for freshman students. For example, today we had a lecture which was attended by acting lawyers. They told us about their experience and about how they achieved success in their career. I think this greatly motivated students and inspired them to get the same profession”, says freshman student of the SUSU Institute of Law Victoria Petrova.

“Although there are not too many people here I still made friends and this is very exciting. What does it matter who is from which group when it is important to have friends at the university when you come into a group of totally unfamiliar people anyway? I am happy to be here!”, shares his opinion a freshman student of the Institute of Linguistics and International Communication Igor Makushev.
