Thank You, Alma Mater, For the Successful Beginning to Adult Life!

 

South Ural State University graduates thousands of students annually in very different specialties. Of course, among the graduates there are always those who stood out because of their scholarship, ambition, and responsibility.

SUSU’s 7 institutes and 3 schools noted their leading graduates for 2017. Many of them are winners of various school Olympics, participants of scientific conferences, champions of competitions, and holders of presidential grants. Almost all of them graduated with honors and can proudly bear the titled of degree-holding specialist. We are happy to tell you a bit about each of them.

Institute of Architecture & Construction

Yekaterina Pankova graduated from the Institute of Architecture & Construction in the program 08.03.01 Construction. Over four years, Yekaterina studied with top marks and graduated with honors.

The student participated in an internet school Olympics in material strength, where she received a silver medal. Yekaterina is also a member of the SUSU team of theoretical mechanics and a participant of the International and Russian School Olympics in Gomel and Kazan. With her scientific advisor, she published an article entitled “Analysis of methods of cinematic study based on the example of a flat hinged lever mechanism.

School of Medical Biology

Darya Tikhonova graduated from the School of Medical Biology in the Commodity Science program and received her bachelor’s degree.

Throughout all of the years of her education, Darya was a member of the student scientific community and participated in many conferences. The student was an active participant in the social life of the Department of Food and Biotechnology and the School of Medical Biology as a whole.

“SUSU gave me unforgettable student years. Getting to know amazing people and the best teachers. Memorable lectures from international professors. Fun times in the student camp Olimp. Thanks to the university, I have more confidence, received a lot of knowledge, and gained friends!”


School of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science

Ivan Volkov graduated from the School of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science in the program 02.03.02 Fundamental Informatics and Information Technology and received his bachelor’s degree.

The student was a winner in the UMNIK-2015 competition and the bearer of a grant. During his studies, Ivan developed the application DiaMeter, which was the best app of the week in the AppStore. This development received attention in the mass media, where 5 reports were done on it. Ivan is also one of the winners of Global Game Jam 2017. One year before graduation, he founded his own company, which has developed 6 sites and 3 mobile applications. They were published in the AppStore and Google Play. At this time, the student is developing 3 more projects.

School of Economics & Management

Ivan Amelin graduated from the School of Economics and Management in the Innovation Studies (Innovation Management) program. Throughout his education, Ivan studied with top marks and graduated with honors.

Ivan has 4 scientific publications, 2 grants, 12 certificates of merit, and 4 ICAPs.

“I am thankful to SUSU for the knowledge I received, for the chance to develop my creative potential in science, and for the professors who are ready to support your ideas!”

Nikita Boychuk graduated from the School of Economics & Management in the Management program. Over all his years of education, Nikita received top marks and graduated with honors. He has 12 certificates of merit.

“I am thankful to SUSU for their help in determining my calling, for the wonderful teachers, and the unforgettable years filled with travel.”

 

Anna Levina graduated from the School of Economics and Management in the Management program. Over all her years of education, Anna received top marks and graduated with honors.

Anna has a presidential award and 13 certificates of merit.

“I am thankful to SUSU because it gave me happy student years, allowed me to gain experience from some of the best teachers in project management, gave me the chance to open up my inner potential, and introduced me to new friends.”


Institute of Natural Sciences

Denis Shaveynikov graduated from the Institute of Natural Science in the program Applied Mathematics and Informatics and received his master’s degree.

Denis is a four-time prize winner of the student team championships in programming ACM ICPC NEERC and four-time prize winner of the Ural Championship in sport programming. The student won an individual competition in sport programming, Prime Time 2015, and won team competitions in sport programming Prime Time 2015 and 2016.

Institute of Linguistics & International Communication

Gulnaz Valieva graduated from the Institute of Linguistics & International Communication in the program 45.03.03 Fundamental and Applied Linguistics.

The student participated in the SUSU Student Exhibition Conference of Scientific, Technical, and Creative Work. At the end of her participation in the exhibition, her work was awarded a 1st place certificate. An article on Gulnaz’s research will be published in a scientific journal on the issues of research, included in the international citation database Scopus. Gulnaz also participated in a competition for the best final research project in the Department of Linguistics at South Ural State University, where her presentation was noted with a level 1 diploma, and the results of her research were approved at 70 SUSU student conferences.

She has published 2 articles: one in the SUSU Gazette Linguistics Series, reviewed by the higher attestation commission of the Ministry of Education and Science, (“Corpus study of metaphors of the word ‘Russia’ (on materials of the corpus of modern American discourse)”) as coauthor; and the other in the materials of the SUSU Student Exhibition Conference of Scientific, Technical, and Creative Work: “Corpus study of metaphors of the word ‘Russia’ (on materials of the corpus of modern American discourse)” – coauthor.

“I am thankful to SUSU because it not only gave me an invaluable wealth of knowledge, but also offered the opportunity to work on research and develop myself in various fields.”

 

Evgeniy Mityunin graduated from the Institute of Linguistics & International Communication in the International Regional Studies program and received his bachelor’s degree.

The student received a 1st place certificate in the category “Best research work” in the scientific conference New Look at International Relations 2017. He also received a 1st place certificate in the category “Best research work in international relations and international regional studies” 2017. In the Prometey student Olympics in culturology he also received a 1st place certificate.

He was awarded one more 1st place certificate as part of a team for their victory in the category “Project relevance” in the business games at the event Days of Student Science.

“I am thankful to SUSU for the quality education I received throughout my years of study and for the fact that the pedagogues gave us the desire to study and the ability to apply knowledge in practice!”

  

Du Liyuan graduated from the Institute of Linguistics & International Communication in the program 45.05.01 Russian as a Foreign Language and received her master’s degree.

The student took active part in research work and wrote research articles. She participated in university and international contests and also worked as a research in the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language.

Institute of Social Sciences & Humanities

Olga Begisheva is a graduate of the Department of Russian Language and Literature and received her bachelor’s degree.

Over her four years of education at the university, Olga showed a high level of professional knowledge and skills. She participated in the preparation of international evets such as Public Relations and Advertising: Theory and Practice; Language. Culture. Communication; and the SUSU Days of Student Science festival. Olga was a winner of the thirteenth open Internet Festival for Young Russian Readers Sochi-MOST-2014. In Saint Petersburg she won a competition among young translators, Sensum de Sensu and was a prize winner in an international translation competition of Polish poetry which was held in Wroclaw (Poland), since this city was chosen as the capital of European culture.

Aleksandra Kozlova graduated from the Institute of Social Sciences & Humanities in the program Translator in the Sphere of Professional Communication and received her bachelor’s degree.

In her years of study in the Faculty of Journalism, Aleksandra Kozlova was able to show herself not just in research work and in the journalism career but also in literary mastery. In 2015, Aleksandra was a prizewinner in the XIV Russian Internet Festival of Young Readers (Sochi) in the category “Literary creativity”. In 2015, she was an organizer of a special creative project for the photo-literary calendar Gallery of the Female Form in Russian Literature, which attracted the attention of the public and all of the regional mass media.  In 2016, she won the Lomonosov International Research Conference for Students, Post Graduates, and Young Researchers. Aleksandra Kozlova participates annual in the literary concourse Stilisty Dobra (Stylists of Kindness) in Chelyabinsk and has received 2nd and 3rd place. Per the results of her work in a creative seminar as part of that competition and the VI Regional Meeting of Young Writers, Aleksandra Kozlova was nominated to participate in the N.S. Gumilev Illuminated Word literary forum (Moscow, Peredelkino) and to receive the South Ural Region Literary Award in the category “Poetic Creativity”. In 2017, the graduate received the A.I. Solzhenitsyn award for “outstanding achievements in literary creativity, politology, and journalism.” The award was given to her personally by the author’s wife, N.D. Solzhenitsyna.

“I am thankful to SUSU for the chance to reveal my creative and intellectual potential, for the amazing friends who helped me grow, move forward, and overcome difficulties, for the scientific tourism and visiting the most beautiful cities in Russia and, of course, for the professors who inspired me, taught me to love my profession, believed in me, and helped me become who I am today.”


Insitute of Sport, Tourism, and Service

Olga Shargina graduated from the Institute of Sport, Tourism, and Service from the Pedagogical Education program and received her bachelor’s degree.

Olga is a world champion in track and field among juniors in racewalking (2013). She was also a silver medalist in the European Championships among Juniors (2015). She won the student school Olympics (2013) and was a bronze medalist in the Youth School Olympics. Olga was a multi-time winner of the Russian Championships among juniors.

“I am thankful to SUSU for their contribution to my development both as an athlete and as an individual. I am thankful to SUSU for their help in preparing for serious competitions.”

 

Igor Tumarkin graduated from the Institute of Sport, Tourism, & Service in the program Production Technology and Catering Organization and received his bachelor’s degree.

Igor is the general manager of the Evropa hospitality center. He also became two-time champion of Russia in confectionary art and was a prizewinner in the international culinary Olympiad in Erfurt (Germany). He was the captain of the Russian team at the World Cup in Leon (Spain). He won the First International Culinary Forum in Peking.

“I am thankful to SUSU for the strong base for my profession and life which forms a solid foundation beneath my feet. Thanks to the university and my professors, I got the chance to do my favorite thing professionally.”


Polytechnic Institute

Grigory Salimonenko graduated from the Polytechnic Institute from the Automobile and Tractor Engineering Faculty

The graduate won the Glorifying the Working Man regional competition with an electric racecar project in the category “Best engineer and constructor”.

Grigory published such articles as: “Review of Existing Construction Combinations of Devices and Their Effect on the Informativeness of Managing Automobiles” in the publication APK Rossii; the article “Development of the Design Procedure of a Battery for a Formula Student Electric Car” in the publication International Conference on Industrial Engineering; “Comparative Characteristics of Materials Obtained Using Vacuum Diffusion and Materials from Carbon Fiber” in the book of materials from the regional scientific and technical competition Formula Tyumen 2015; and “Analysis of Existing Attenuators and Choosing Methods for Testing Attenuators for Automobiles of the Formula Student Class” in the book of research work from the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Achievements in Science – Agricultural Production, SUSAU, Chelyabinsk.

Aleksandr Nikonov graduated from the Mechanical and Technological Faculty in program 15.04.05 Design and Engineering Support of Machinery Production (Engineering Technology).

The graduate published 3 articles in SCOPUS and 2 in journals from the HAC list. He was a winner of the Russian Olympiad Computer Technologies in Mechanical Engineering, and a winner of the Russian Contest of Research Work for Students and Postgraduate Students, A Step Into Science, in the category “Mechanical Engineering”.

“I am thankful to SUSU for the knowledge and skills I obtained and also for the chance to develop and constantly try something new while achieving success!”

Valeria Shestakova graduated with honors from the bachelor’s program. In addition, throughout her education, Valeria became a holder of a grant from the UMNIK program to realize her project in the area of renewable energy sources and became the author of many publications in Russian and international research compilations. She won the Competition Faces of SUSU 2015 in the category “For contributions to science” and Faces of SUSU 2016 in the category “Best student”. She is the winner of the competition Energy Worker of the Year 2016 in the category “Best student of the faculty of energy”. She is the president of the Russian educational project Territory of Success 6.0’ in Kaliningrad.

Institute of Law

Over four years, Nina Kolotovkina had top marks, for which she graduated with honors and was awarded her bachelor’s degree.

The graduate is the chairman of the SUSU Institute of Law’s Student Research Council. Nina won Faces of SUSU 2016 in the category “For contributions to science” and won the Russian Student Olympiad in the Law category in International public rights.

Nina is the recipient of a scholarship of the Government of the Russian Federation and from the Association of Lawyers Russia.
