Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Urals Federal District evaluated damages at SUSU

Today Igor Ryurikovich Kholmanskikh, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy of the Russian President to the Urals Federal District, visited SUSU. He examined one of the University buildings and the premises of the University Rocket and Space Engineering Centre, which was damaged most of all after the Friday emergency accident.

Earlier, the situation in the University was checked by the Governor of Chelyabinsk Region, Mikhail Valerevich Yurevich, and by the representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of the RF. They examined the University damages and saw that the scope of repair work was quite large: a lot of windows and ceilings were broken, some elevator shafts and computers were destroyed. The natural disaster caused more than 50 million rubles damage.

According to the Rector of SUSU, Alexander Leonidovich Shestakov, the warmth of the University buildings was kept thanks to the cooperative work of the administrative-maintenance staff, employees and students immediately after the accident.

Besides, Viktor Anatolevich Koksharov, Rector of Ural Federal University, rendered his assistance by sending 4 000 m2 of polycarbonate – material which is a better heat conserver and light conductor. Now the University started an active heat insulation work as March is supposed to be cold.

The primary elimination of the consequences comes to an end, and tomorrow the contracting organizations will start glazing. The University works as usual: on Monday all the students continued their education process.

At these days SUSU Rector plans to organize a meeting with the Minister of Education and Science of the RF to discuss the issues of extra financing for the repair works.
