South Ural Archeology on the banks of Dead Sea

The archeologists of our University became the participants of the largest scientific forum which took place in Jordan. Andrey Vladimirovich Epimakhov, Professor of Ancient History and Eurasia Ethnology Department of South Ural State University, and Kseniya Konopleva, graduate of Faculty of History (now she is Master Program student of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov), made their reports at the 7th International Archeology Congress which took place under the patronage of Jordan's King Abdulla II. The representatives of more than 70 countries discussed the latest achievements and problems of historical heritage preservation.

The place of holding the Congress was not chosen at random as in the territory of Jordan a lot of events described in the Bible took place and there were a number of archeological monuments registed in the List of UNESCO World Heritage. One of the most famous and popular places is the ancient city of Petra, capital of the Nabataeans. This center of the caravan trade fantasticly combines East and Hellenistic traditions.

The Congress summed up theresults and chose a new place of the meeting. It will be in Kyoto. We hope that the new achievements are on the way and SUSU archeology will be presented at such a high level once again.
